AVEMCO PROUDLY SUPPORTS ANGEL FLIGHT AND BUILD A PLANE

LAKELAND, FL (April 18, 2007)…

Avemco Insurance Company ("Avemco") announced today at the Sun n' Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, Florida its support of Angel Flight South Central and has reaffirmed the Company's continued involvement with Build A Plane.

Angel Flight was established in 1991 to provide free air transportation for people in need of specialized medical treatment not available to them locally. Angel Flight relies on volunteer pilots to provide their time and aircraft in support of the Angel Flight mission.

Angel Flight South Central, based at Addison Airport just north of Dallas, Texas, is one of seven member organizations. The South Central Region has recently opened their newest hangar facility at Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas. Avemco's support will assist the Region's mission to provide free patient services to a seven state region that includes Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and parts of New Mexico and western Tennessee.

"As our parent Company is based in Houston, we chose to sponsor the South Central region of Angel Flight to honor our customers who fly missions and to recognize the outstanding work that the program has done for this region of the United States," said Jim Lauerman, Executive Vice President of Avemco.

Cindy Palmer, director of development for Angel Flight South Central, said "We are truly thankful to Avemco for their generous support, as it will greatly assist us in our efforts to fly our patients, 50% of which fly into Houston."

Avemco has also reaffirmed its commitment to the Build A Plane program for the third straight year. After the Katrina and Wilma hurricanes, Avemco worked with Build A Plane to transfer and transport over 20 totaled airplanes recovered from the storms' damage to schools that wanted restoration projects. These planes were formerly insured by Avemco and could never fly again due to saltwater damage but were deemed excellent educational projects.

Avemco maintains its support by donating marketing and promotional resources annually to Build A Plane. Avemco employees personally give their time and talents to the marketing, administrative and advisory aspects of the non-profit's endeavors.

Build A Plane began operations in 2003 as a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting aviation and aerospace careers by giving young people the opportunity to build real airplanes. The organization focuses on facilitating aircraft donations from owners to schools requesting airplane construction and restoration projects that help teach science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

"Without Avemco's assistance, Build A Plane couldn't have gone as far as fast as we've been able to in the past 24 months. Their support has enabled us to realize the dreams of hundreds of kids who just want to learn about airplanes and teachers who want to excite that learning with actual hands-on experiences of aeronautical restoration and construction," stated Lyn Freeman, Founder of Build A Plane.

Avemco Insurance Company, a leading pleasure and business general aviation insurer in the United States, has been insuring planes and pilots since 1961. Headquartered in Frederick, Maryland, Avemco is rated A+ (Superior) by A. M. Best Company and AA (Very Strong) by Standard & Poor's. Avemco is a wholly-owned subsidiary of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: HCC) a leading specialty insurance group with assets exceeding $7.5 billion and shareholders' equity of over $2.0 billion.
