Flying Clubs

Features & Benefits

A A A

The right insurance to own when you're sharing ownership of the aircraft.

If you're part of a flying club, Avemco has the perfect insurance offering for you and your fellow members!

Other aviation insurers may view flying clubs as commercial operations similar to an FBO renting an aircraft. But at Avemco, if the club members own the aircraft in equal shares, have formal bylaws, and no more than 20 members per aircraft, then we consider the club a non-commercial operation (as long as the risk does not otherwise meet the policy definition of "commercial purpose"). The result is an affordable policy premium for genuinely non-commercial clubs.

Standard Policy Benefits

We insure pilots regardless of age who meet general underwriting requirements.

We give credits for "claim-free" experience.

We base total loss payment on the insured value, not a "Blue Book" or actual cash value.

A hull premium credit applies if your aircraft is kept in a hangar.

Disappearing deductible for loss due to fire, lightning, explosion, or a total loss (in most cases).

If you've purchased in-flight hull coverage, we pay to retrieve your aircraft after an off-airport landing, even if your aircraft isn't damaged.

No different deductible for gear up landings.

No restrictions on payment for Hail Damage.

When you add or replace aircraft, up to 30 days coverage is automatically provided, as long as the replacement aircraft meets the definition of "insured aircraft" in the policy.

Avemco's policy includes "extended sales coverage," which provides Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability for covered claims after you have sold the aircraft for up to one year after the date of sale, or the period that the aircraft was insured by Avemco, whichever is less. Very few, if any, other policies provide this protection.

$25,000 liability coverage is provided for damage to rented or leased hangars.

We pay up to $1,000 for damage to passengers' personal effects.

Coverage for liability arising out of use of area you rent to park, tie-down or store your aircraft.
